In the workplace mentors support our professional development, but in the church mentors help move us forward towards maturity in Christ.  There is a strong biblical mandate for mentoring - Jesus mentored the disciples; Barnabas mentored Paul; Paul went on to mentor Silas, Titus and Timothy.  This is a patttern for growing disciples and leaders in fulfulment of our Lord's great commission.
